As a gift, Craig and I received a 3 hour sail on board the tall sailing ship Lynx. The Lynx is a reproduction built of wood of the 1812 American Privateer sailing ship the Lynx. She is 78 feet long, 23 feet wide, has a sail area of 5,000 square feet and can carry 40 passengers on a day sail. This year, she is traveling up and down the coast between San Francisco and Seattle with another reproduction tall sailing ship, the Lady Washington, which was built for Washington State’s centennial in 1989. The Lady Washington is 112 feet long, 24 feet wide, has a sail area of 4,480 square feet, and can carry up to 60 passengers on a day sail. The original Lady Washington was built around 1770 and was an American privateer during the Revolution.
