Most buildings in Budapest share several traits. They're about 4 or 5 stories tall. The facades are beige, brown, red, or yellow; and usually dingy. They abut their neighboring buildings; there's few alleys per se in Budapest. The first floor (western meaning of "first floor") windows are protected by simple yet evident iron bars. Often, there are friezes or other ornamentation near the top of the facade. And, most buildings were built in the early 20th century, or perhaps in the mid or late 19th century.
