Our second stop was at a Dike Mountain near a deep and wide crevasse. We walked around it but steered clear of the depression in the snow that showed where the overhang began. At this point we also did a little experiment: we all stood apart and were quite for just a moment. We were so far from anything else, we heard nothing -- no birds, planes, boats, people, nothing. High atope the Juneau icefield.
