One of the things I liked about this game was that, for the first third (before dinner on Saturday) there was a parallel mini-game going on. At each location there was one item marked with a pink tag left by game control. Team that found these items and photographed them (with a teammate) would get a bonus in the game later on. This extra bit of the game was a nice parallel for teammates (such as myself) who weren't needed or who couldn't find room to help solve the main puzzle. Importantly, though, the reward for this parallel track came in the middle of the game, not at the end, so the rewards for these efforts were an early surprise. Very nicely done.
