Piccadilly Circus. The confluence of a number of main roads, Piccadilly being not the least of which. There aren't many billboards gracing the landscape in London, but the rare exceptions try to make up for the void. All these signs include neon lamps to attract attention and produce crude animations as the sun sets in the city. (And yes, Steve and I did find food not too far from Piccadilly Circus, at Belgo's, a sort of pub-like place that Rick Steve's guide suggested. Great sausage.)
