The poor wishing tree in Lam Tsuen. The tradition is to write your name on one of the rolls of paper, on which a generic list of wishes has already been written. Then, afix an orange to the roll with a ribbon, and toss it up into the tree. If the tree catches it, then the good wishes are carried up into the air. Or, something like that.

Anyway, the tree gets to be in pretty sad shape after many people have cast their wishes. Apparently, the care takers clear out the tree once in a while.
