Because of the climate in Stanford, CA, the architecture of the campus includes a great use of outdoor structures for what would typically be enclosed areas. Shown here is a long hallway into a number of classrooms in a part of the Main Quad. The rooms open out into the "outdoors", but need not worry about inclement weather -- because it doesn't happen that often. A stark contrast to where I come from -- Seattle, WA, and the University of Washington.
